Higher Things Virtual Conference – August
Higher Things exists to support the church in passing on the faith to the next generation. This is done in a multitude of ways, and we are so excited to have added in yet another avenue for that to happen. Higher Things Virtual Conferences offer all of the amazing content that you receive at an in-person conference, but it is brought to you in a way that allows you to craft your own experience. Can you gather together with your youth group and congregation during the live streaming of the conference? Great! Are you going to join us in real time from the comfort of your own home while sipping coffee in your sweatpants? Awesome! Are you busy during the scheduled conference event and want to consume all of the content on your own time? That’s totally fine, too! HTVC allows you to create your own adventure.
The VC will run for two days, August 6-7, 2020.
More information can be found at the newly updated website – higherthings.org/conferences
Lutheran Youth Fellowship Leadership Training March 2020
Four youth and one adult leader represented the North Dakota District at LCMS Youth Ministry’s annual Teen Leadership Training March 12-15 in Saint Louis. The North Dakota District sponsored District Youth Committee members Cullen Flieth (Concordia, Jamestown) and Leah Tykwinski (Beautiful Savior, Fargo), along with District LYF pastoral advisor, Rev. Adam Harvala (St. Andrew, West Fargo). Bethel, Bismarck sponsored one of their own youth members, Jessica Schuh. Also representing our District was Aidan Quirk (Bethel, Bismarck), who is in the first year of a three-year term on the National LYF Executive Team, representing the Great Plains region. During the four days of the training, the group members were strengthened in their faith in Jesus, their relationships with each other and new friends from around the country, and in their skills as leaders within the church. This year’s training was centered on Holy Baptism, our baptismal identity, and living out that identity in church, home, school, and society. Participants studied God’s Word, played and worshipped together, and learned how to write and lead devotions. We are thankful for these young people and for the work that God continues to do through Lutheran Youth Fellowship on the congregational, district, and synodical levels, and we look forward to these young leaders bringing this valuable training back to share it with their peers in our district and our congregations.
