Return to Life Together

Youth and Young Adults

We are the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) North Dakota (ND) District Youth Ministry Task Force and Lutheran Youth Fellowship (LYF). The District Youth Ministry Task Force (adults & District LYF president) and elected leaders of the District LYF (District Youth Committee – DYC) work together to offer resources and events that empower middle school and high school age youth to grow their relationship with Jesus Christ and each other.

Lutheran Youth Fellowship Leadership Training March 2020

LYF Teen Leadership Training 2020 ND District Representatives (L to R): Aidan Quirk (Bethel, Bismarck & LYF Executive Team member); Jessica Schuh (Bethel, Bismarck); Leah Tykwinski (Beautiful Savior, Fargo); Cullen Flieth (Concordia, Jamestown); Pastor Adam Harvala (St. Andrew, West Fargo)

Four youth and one adult leader represented the North Dakota District at LCMS Youth Ministry’s annual Teen Leadership Training March 12-15 in Saint Louis. The North Dakota District sponsored District Youth Committee members Cullen Flieth (Concordia, Jamestown) and Leah Tykwinski (Beautiful Savior, Fargo), along with District LYF pastoral advisor, Rev. Adam Harvala (St. Andrew, West Fargo). Bethel, Bismarck sponsored one of their own youth members, Jessica Schuh. Also representing our District was Aidan Quirk (Bethel, Bismarck), who is in the first year of a three-year term on the National LYF Executive Team, representing the Great Plains region. During the four days of the training, the group members were strengthened in their faith in Jesus, their relationships with each other and new friends from around the country, and in their skills as leaders within the church. This year’s training was centered on Holy Baptism, our baptismal identity, and living out that identity in church, home, school, and society. Participants studied God’s Word, played and worshipped together, and learned how to write and lead devotions. We are thankful for these young people and for the work that God continues to do through Lutheran Youth Fellowship on the congregational, district, and synodical levels, and we look forward to these young leaders bringing this valuable training back to share it with their peers in our district and our congregations.
